Hiya, I first felt sharp, sudden pain on the left side of the abdomen, which later moved to the right. I went to the hospital and they presumed it was my appendix, so removed it. 1 Month later I was still getting same pains, so my doctor put me on strong pain relief thinking it was wound pains from the op. They didn’t work so I had an ultra sound x-ray and they found some fluid below where the appendix was. They assured me it was from the surgery and was common. 2 months after the op, pain got worse, so my doc referred me back to hospital for the 3rd time! They then told me the reason pains got worse is because it wasn’t my appendix, so therefore the problem hasn’t yet been treated. They did various x-rays, which showed fluid, which they had before thought, was from the op. But later, diagnosed it as being fluid from my menstrual cycle. All women have it but it only bothers 1in a 100! So, I had another operation where they removed the fluid and put tares in my scar tissue Incase it was linked to adhesions?? Now 3 weeks after the second op, I’m still feeling the same pain, but am also having problems passing water. I get really sharp pains in the centre of my abdomen. I don’t know whether this is linked to the op or whether it’s my unknown condition, getting worse. Any suggestions would be useful, as the doctors have given up!!
Is there a possiblity of scar tissue (adhesions) on that side? Adhesions don't show up on ultrasounds, but they can be very painful. They cause things to stick together. There is a technique called body rolling (you can google it). This has helped many women (including myself) to break up the adhesions and get relief. I hope this helps.

Adhesions don't take long to develope. However, since you are 3 weeks post op, your pains could be the nerve endings healing. There are also pains that are called phantom pains...they are what an amputee feels..the nerve endings still think that something is there and sends pain messages to the brain. Believe me, the pain you feel is real. Give it a little more time and see what happens. It does take your body a while to heal from the surgery. Keep us posted.

Tascha, thanks for responding. I don't know about adhesions. could they have formed from the surgery? it's only been 3 weeks.
I also wanted to add that i also have pain on the left side as well just not as often.
