SUMMER GET TOGETHER - I haven't stopped!
Just a note to let you know that I am still going on with the plans for our get together this summer. I hope that everything that has been going on here lately will be forgiven and forgotten by then and all who expressed interest in being there will still plan on coming.
As i have said many times before, I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. In reading our local paper this weekend I found that the ACS was sponsering a Look Good... Feel Better program in my town on May 5th. As I have never had the opportunity to go to one of these sessions, I decided that I wanted to go. When I called to pre register, I had to call the ACS. So while I was on the phone, I decided to ask if there was anything they could do to help us out or any suggestions they could make that would make our weekend a success. The woman i spoke was more than happy to see what they could do, took down the info I gave her, and said she would speak with her director and have her get hold of me. That would be great if we could get help through them, if nothing else letting them know what we are doing. There is an office in Springfield so that is an even bigger plus. When I hear from them I will let you know what I find out. (I did explain to her that are very interested in heightening public awareness and education about ovarian cancer, and wondered about the local media. So maybe........)
Any way just wanted you all to know that I have not given up, I just had to take a little break last week what with my cold and BP issue. But I am planning on getting right back to work on it. If we could get this kind of exposure, then the more of us that show up, the better!

I updated info yesterday and titled the thread, This is the most awesome news.

Washington Park Botanical Gardens is supposed to be really beautiful. I have not been there personally. I don't care what activites we have, if any. I am just happy to have a chance to meet everyone. Thanks again, Chris, for doing so much for us. Marie
August 8th is fine with me, and planning on attending with b/f for sure. hope your well

Yes i am still planning on August 8th.
I just wanted to let you all know. If you feel the drive may be to long for you to make, please feel free to bring someone along with you (a friend, spouse, family member, etc)
I am planning on doing so as I can not drive that far by myself either.
I still would like to hear some suggestions on what some of you may want to do that weekend, if much of anything. I am not real familiar with everything in Springfield either but you can look it up online and there is several sites that tell what all there is to do and see in Springfield. I myself love going to the zoo, and try to everywhere that I go. but then it has been awhile, and we may not all have that kind of energy. I just want to be sure that anything we may do will be enjoyed by all, that is why I am asking for some input.
Before long we are going to have to get an actual attendance list made up so that we can be more specific on reservations we will need etc. So I hope everyone is putting a lot of thought and consideration in to this and will do what they can to be there. As I said previously, if money is a problem please let me know (and you may do it through private message if you like) as I have had several express interest in helping out if anyone needs it.
