CT scan—sometimes called CAT scanning is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.
CT scan combines special x-ray equipment with sophisticated computers to produce multiple images or pictures of the inside of the body. These images of the area being studied can then be examined on a computer monitor, printed or transferred to a CD.
CT scans of internal organs, bones, soft tissue and blood vessels provide greater clarity and reveal more details than regular x-ray exams.
Using specialized equipment and expertise to create and interpret CT scans of the body, radiologists can more easily diagnose problems such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, appendicitis, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.
Could you tell me What a cat scan is?
Thank u guys for your support! I am very depressed about this because it is very frustating when you don't know what's wrong with you, espicially because I have a young child and little support as her dad works away. I will definatly make sure my doc books all those scans and blood tests.. I am also trying to get a second opinion. My doc moves very slow like she's not bothered..
It is very stressfull to have this hanging over your head, especially at your young age. Having any cancer at your young age is very rare.
Have you had a cat scan or MRI of your abdomen? Also did your Dr have your blood drawn for a CEA, which is a test for your colon.
NYC lady is correct your Dr need to explore other reasons for your symptoms.
I wish you all the best and please post if you have any further questions.
Kevin
A CA125 level could be raised for numerous reasons, a cold, infection, anything, including ovulation. It is not a test to determine if someone has OvCa....if there are no ovarian masses, then it is highly unlikely that you have ovarian cancer....if your symptoms persist....perhaps you should go for another opinion..
