This particular drug did not work out, but that doesn't mean all trials out there will fail. You can never give up hope that the next break-through is on the horizon. Everyone fears the word "cancer". I did too until I was diagnosed with it. If I didn't have hope that it was curable, I don't think I'd be able to function day to day. I am currently in remission, but I know that can change at any time. If it does, then I move on to what's next. Bad news isn't always the end. Now those researchers can move on to the next drug that has a better potential.
How is your mom doing?
Gail
Hi Gail,
My mom had 2 treatments with Doxil...they postponed the 3rd one for another week to wait until her mouth sores heal up more. She had a scan done today but we wont get the results for awhile. She feels fine, but of course she is scared - we all are.
Im just afraid what lies ahead and I hope the Doxil works for a long long time. Im afraid that since she is platinum resistant that there arent too many options out there for her.
GVail have you been on Doxil? How did that go? Are you platinum resistant?
Take care of yourself and I hope you and your family - and everyone on the forum for that matter - are enjoying the holidays!
I have been in remission for a year. I had my last treatment a year ago tomorrow. So far, so good...it hasn't come back. I am not platinum resistant so far. If it comes back at this point, I'd probably get Taxol/Carbo again since it has been more than 6 months since I finished. I have read other posts on here from women who were on Doxil, and they said the mouth sores are very common for them, as well. Has your mom used any kind of mouth rinse to help with them? I hope things go well from here on out for her. I also hope you are able to enjoy the holidays together. Best wishes to you all.
Gail
