Surgery - sorry so long

I just got back from my follow up appt after my CT scan.  The dr. said my cyst is the size of a big grapefruit.  I know I need the surgery - but for some reason - I just do not feel comfortable with this MD doing it.  I had never been to him before this ordeal.  One of the reasons - I had major hernia surgery in late 2004 - I have a belly full of mesh from this surgery.  I also developed MRSA after my surgery - and was so very sick for three months.  He already said he could not do this by lap.  I know I just paranoid - but I just don't feel comfortable.  I asked for something for depression - because just the thought of another ab surgery (this will be my fifth in eight years) has been making me cry just by thinking about it.  Thanks for all of the support I have been getting from you all.

You have a large cyst, so that is why the laparotomy and not the scope.  Are you going to a Gyn/Oncogist?  If you are not I definitely would go to one.  If you are not comfortable with the Dr. you need to find another.  Is it the surgeon or really just the thought of another surgery and the chance of more problems?  You need to find out where the incision would be, in terms of your mesh, can they do an incision that will not affect it?  Maybe the surgeon who did all the other surgeries could be there for this surgery, discuss this with the surgeon also.  For antidepressants you should talk to your primary care provider, this is not really a surgeon's area of expertise.  I totally understand where you are coming from, with the MRSA and the mesh, you have been through alot, but that is a big cyst that really needs to come out.  Good luck to you, continue to keep us posted
