THICKENING OF THE UTERUS LINING

I am 68 years old (this week).  I recently had an ultra sound and showed the lining to be 7.5mm thick and there is a trace of free fluid in my cervix.   I am not bleeding or even spotting and have no abdominal pain.  My CA 125 was 30 (should be under 35) so still in normal range.  I am still very worried about the thickness and the free fluid in my cervix.  Any comments.  Has anyone had anything like this??

This discussion is related to Had endo biopsy - is bleeding afterward normal.

Yes, the GYN told me I had some thickening and has prescribed a very low level of hormones.  I'm a little scared to take them because they supposedly increase your chances of breast CA, but she said it is a minute dose, just to keep the lining from thickening more and leading to CA.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
What you may be having is endometrial hyperplasia. Endometrium is the innermost lining of the uterus. You should wait for the biopsy result and get a repeat ultrasound done. If a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound reveals that the endometrium is abnormally thickened, it should be confirmed the following month with a repeat ultrasound. The repeat ultrasound should also be performed within a day or two after menstruation stops.

If the endometrium remains thickened or if bleeding is continuous for two months in a row, then a D&C will both diagnose and treat hyperplasia.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
