You certainly want to get this taken care of promptly, and you may want a total hysterectomy.
But please take a deep breath. It could be benign. Or, if cancer, it could be curable.
I had a mass on my left ovary substantially larger than yours and I turned out to be a 1A -- cancer in one ovary, no spread. That's curable, according to my gyn/oncologist, and I'm at seven years since my surgery and chemo with no problems, so I'm living proof.
It helped me to worry only about what I knew for a fact -- not all the scary possibilities.
Best of luck, and keep in touch.
dian07 is right. A gyn/onc must do the surgery. The doctor is right not to sample and biopsy first. He is right to remove the mass then test the pathology. Cells could be disturbed during the sample biopsy and further to spread the cells if they are malignant. I wish you the best. Marie
YOU HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.....it is in your best interest to see a GYN/ONCOLOGIST for a 2nd opinion and for your surgeon. Not because this is cancer but , because if it is this is his/her arena of specialty. Your future can , quite literally, depend on his/her skill level.
The radiologist writing this report has said he finds the mass "suspicious"...he doesn't think it looks normal.
Please ask your gyn for a referral to a gyn/oncologist.
The waiting is not fun so stay in touch.
Peace.
