Dear Yvonne, I haven't been on the PC for a long time as I have been in bed with flu. I've been scrolling through the posts to see how you are and was so pleased to see yours. I am sorry you are suffering so much and how uncaring your doctor was. I remember my mum having one just like that ! But one time my mum was in hospital the sister on the ward said to her 'the doctors are not God, they don't decide when you go-there are lots we can do to manage your symptoms' and she is so right.
I hope everything went OK today, please keep us posted. Do you have much support at home ? Much love to you Yvonne, keep fighting, Love Sam x

I am so mad that that doctor said that to you, it just shows you that these doctors may have the brains to do medicine but basic things such as compassion and beside manner they have absolutely no idea about.

It reminds me of when I went to see a ear nose and throat specialist after chemo about the tinnitus that I developed after chemo and he said each time I heard it it would remind me that at least I am alive,,, that sort of attitude is awful. Ad dian said I hope you don't have to deal with that doctor again.

I am really glad that you are feeling a bit better, just to let you know that I am sending you lots of positive thoughts from here in Sydney.

Hugs

Jenny

What an insensitive idiot....I certainly hope you never have to deal with that ogger ever again!  I had terrible trouble with diahrea (sp) and vomiting while taking chemo as well.....not to the degree you have, obviously, but I did have enough trouble my pharmacist (who is a compounding pharmacist) concocted a cream that stopped the heaving immediately when rubbed on my wrist....for me it was a miracle.  If I wasn't sitting on the toilet loosing it at both ends I was dry heaving until I got this cream!  There were nights I simply spread out some towels and slept on the bathroom floor.....the cream stopped that in a hurry!  Maybe a compounding pharmacist could help you the same way?  I wish so badly I could help in some way.....please know your sisters out here are thinking about you always....we love you .
Peace.

I agree with Paula, that was a uncalled for question.  Very inappropriate.  I am sorry someone talked to you like that.  Especially someone who is supposedly a "professional".  Yes, staying in bed for that long will surely make you weak.  You should try to get your energy back slowly. Set small goals for yourself each day.  I am sooooo glad you are feeling a bit better.  I will continue to send you positive thoughts and prayers!!  Love, Shannon

"Then he kinda made me mad."  "Kinda?"  I only weigh 110, but it would have been smackdown time.  How incredibly insensitive to tell you that at that moment you should be grateful to have had 3 years rather than a week.  Actually, when I read that again, I am absolutely speechless to know that there are people in the medical profession that would be so callous.  Did you just get up and walk out of there?  I'm sure that conflict is not what you need right now and maybe my suggestion of physical violence isn't a good one (but fun to visualize), but I think he deserved at least a calm statement to rethink what he had just said and would he (or his wife or his children) want to hear words like that from a doctor.  You probably were too upset at the time, but I think if you get the opportunity you do tell him so at some point and definitely pass his statement onto your ocologist.

Does this mean you didn't get any relief on Friday?  If so, I am so incredibly sorry for what you are going through.  I know we are all different, but I would take pain over vomiting and diahrrea (like we have a choice).  I hope you can get some peace from some source and I admire your efforts at keeping people here updated.  We're all pulling for you even if we don't know you--we're all sisters in this.  Paula

I am eating a little.  Working with the yogurt and instant breakfast.  Did manage some grits this morning.  Saw the Gastro doctor last week.  He said there ae so many reasons for the vomiting and diaherra..  Tumors putting pressure on organs, chemo hanging around.  Then he kinda made me mad. Said, well you have had 3 years.  Lots of peope I see are dead in a week.  I wonder if after being in bed for 6 or 8 weeks, it is just hard to get up and feel better.  The weather is prettty today, so maybe that will help some.  Helen, I am so glad the chemo seems to be helping.   Love to you all.  Yvonne

Yvonne,
I am soooo sorry about the vomiting and the diarhea. What a horrible combination. Do you vomit whenever you try and eat something?  If so what about getting fluids into your system by IV. You don't want to deydrate yourself. Then there's the TPN which has helped others on this forum. I am glad the pain is not that bad but the vomiting is enough for you--that is painful. Have you tried liquid shakes-yogurt with things that may be appealing to you. My combination is strawberry, banana but may not be yours.

Yvonee I wish I could help or that I lived closer. The new chemo went OK with me. I believe it is helping because my fatigue is not as bad. I know that when you are in bed most of the time (according to Dr. Goodman) they put off chemo for awhile because of not being able to handle it. Only YOU know. Do you take ativan. I take one every evening. It takes the edge off, I sleep better and it has a little anti nausea in it.

Try your best to find anything that you can eat. Please ask about TPN or at least IV hydration.

Another thought also is when you take iron supplements they tend to constipate. I take one now and then (Nature's Plus chewable iron) but have to watch constipation. Would it help your system since you're depleted and then help with the diarhea?

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Lots of love, Helen
