OK, I finally went to the gyn with my concerns: postmenopausal pelvic pain that lasts weeks at a time, and now strange abdominal bloating/swelling (it gets more swollen when I eat). Near the end of the last bout of pelvic pain, they did a transvaginal ultrasound and found a small simple cyst on my left ovary. (Apparently, it's smaller than when they found one in the same place years ago, although I don't know if it's the same one or another one on the same ovary). They then did a pelvic and abdominal CT scan, which I've been told was normal. The lab was supposed to do a CA125, but cancelled it for some reason. I'm still waiting to hear from the doctor about that.
So, now what? The pelvic pain is gone for now, but the bloating/swelling is continuing and is most unusual for me and therefore, worries me. Should I assume since nothing's been found by these tests so far that this is NOT ovarian cancer? Would the CT scans have necessarily showed anything? (I'm allergic to contrast, so they only used barium). A GI referral has been suggested, but I just don't have any other GI symptoms other than the swelling up when I eat.
Also, how exactly does ovarian cancer cause bloating?
