Unclear tests and symptoms

Any advise will be appreciated.
I am 46 years old, with regular periods. I have had abdominal  pain, bloating, horrible digestive problems, back pain for more than six months. I had a Pet_CT that found abnormal FDG Uptake on the right ovary and the cecum area. Dr ordered abdominal CT  with contrast and ultrasound. Had  both tests done and they found a small (1 x 0.9 x 1) simple cyst with single septation and several fibroids.
The symptoms will not go away, I feel horrible but the Dr is proposing a wait and see approach.
I am not having any more kids and would rather have the cyst removed and a biopsy done to exclude the possibility of cancer before it is too late. Should I see a different Dr and have my concerns taken into consideration?

Had the same symptoms with digestive problems, diarhea and lots of gas. Had 3 t/u done before doctor found fluid in my abdomen area which turned out to be OC cells floating around and causing these problems.  When asked why it was not caught the first ultrasound, dr explained that because fluid tends to shift around, view can be blocked by organs.

P.S. a cyst, at any size, can cause many symptoms!  Some smaller cysts actually have been known to disrupt other functions & become more symptomatic.  The bigger the cyst doesn't necessarily mean more symptoms.  There are many women that have had lg. malignant tumors w/ only vague symptoms.  EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT & SHOULD BE CONSIDERED THAT WAY!  LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, NOT STATISTICS!

Ask your dr. about repeating the ultrasound after your menstrual cycle stops.  Most cysts that resolve on their own are functional cysts that flare up mid cycle (relates to ovulation & tissue build up not being fertilized)  Your dr. should proceed w/ an ultrasound to track any change in form or increase in growth.  If they do find those things, further testing should be done.  Any cyst or mass which grows beyond 5cm (not 6cm) should be removed & biopsied.  Pay attention to your symptoms & track anything abnormal.  Just remember that the "norm" for the national average shouldn't apply to you, especially if you present w/ any new unknown symptoms.  Listen to your body & pay close attention.  By doing so, you'll be able to help the drs. diagnose your symptoms easier.  Whatever your diagnosis may be, your body & your voice IS your best advocate. Be consistent & assertive! Best of luck to you, peace.

As for the cyst, I do believe that the doctor is taking the right approach.  It is small and simple and could very easily disolve on it's own.  Most often doctors will not perform any type of surgery until the cyst measures 6cms because at that point it can cause other problems.

They will watch the cyst to see if there are changes that warrent additional tests.

HOWEVER....if you are concerned that it is something more and you feel that the doctor isn't giving you the responses you need, then you should seek another opinion.

Have you discussed your fears with the doctor?  What did the doctor say?  Did the doctor explain that most cysts are benign?

And your fears are very normal.  But, try not to panic.  As of right now all you are dealing with is a simple cyst....panic if they tell you it is something more.

Please be in touch and let us know how everything goes.
