Average time to recurrance

Hello All-

My mom was diagnosed with stage 2c in October 2006. Her CA125 has been between 5-7 since, and has her latest CT scan next week (2 years). She does for her checkups every 3 months and CA125 every 8 weeks. I know everyone is different, but is there a certain time when a recurrance would happen sooner than later? Is 2 years or 5 years the "average" time period for a recurrance?

Thanks in advance,

-A worried son.

Just came from a lecture and asked this question.  The doc said, by far, most women recur within 2 years of the end of their treatment.

Why wait for a recurrence????  There is a good possiblity that there will not be one!!!!!  Live life and enjoy!!!!
There are survivors that never recurr...lets hope that your mom is one of them.  I know quiet a few long term survivors (stage 3B and stage 3C) one that is 22 years out, another over 7 and a few others at 3, 4 and 5 years.  Think positive and try not to worry about the what ifs!!!!

Best of luck to you and  your family.

The longer the time before a recurrence the better the chances are to live a really long time. The fact that she has gone 2 years is an excellent sign that she will continue to do well.  I hope she has a permanent remission. Marie

Hi, there is no average time no matter what the stage.  I am stage IV and am 13 months out of surgery and chemo and doing well.. some on here have never stopped doing chemo and such.. I am alive at 18 since diagnosis and one of the longest my oncologist has... luck?? don't know... She could go many many years without a recurrance.  and I pray that she doesn.... Ronni
