Wow...where do I start???? I posted awhile back about my mom's ovarian cyst--she's almost 80 and had an 8mm cyst on her left ovary. Her CA125 was only at 100, so her doctor felt that hopefully this wouldn't be too bad. She had her surgery last Thursday, and it turned out that she had quite a bit of adhesions involving her colon and ureter, so they had to resection her bowel and peel back her ureter and put it all back together again to get all of the tumor out. (In addition to the full hysterectomy, of course) She'll have a stent in there for 8 weeks. Now for the good news...the pathology on her lymph glads, fluids, and fat pad are all negative. The frozen sample of her ovary came back malignant, but we don't have final pathology back yet on the big chunk that was stuck to her bowel so we haven't gotten word on final staging yet. Mom is still in the hospital, but will be coming home as soon as she poops. Tomorrow will be one week since surgery. She's having lots of gas today and is finally eating small bites of mushy food, so hopefully she'll "go" soon! One word of advice....PLEASE girls....be obedient and do your bowel prep!!!!! Without it, her bowel resection would have been a colostomy. Thanks for all the advice and information you all share here...I've been reading everyday and learning so much!!!
