Uterine Cancer?

Hoping you can help.  I have been diagnosed with 2 Fibroids in my uterus, had a CA 125 test & positive results = 23.  I have irregular bleeding, pain in my back (dull ache) and abdomen (pressure and pain all the time).  It hurts after sex and I have diahrea 90% of the time. My mother and sister had hystercotomies (at 31 and 41yrs of age) and my cousin (on mother side) died of ovarian cancer at 42yrs.  My aunt (on mother side) had breast cancer.  I am schedule to see a specialist and I am 45.  What do you think my specialist will do/recommend?

Hi Wanna,
Did you know that the normal range was recently changed from 35 to 65 at a OBGYN world counsel last spring?  Does your doctor know?  Even at the old parameter, you are within the norm Wanna!!  The symptoms you have, while worrisome, could simply be the result of the fibroids but with your Fam history you cannot afford to take any chances!  Time for the surgical looksee and pathology.  You are on the right course Wanna.  So will your surgeon be a GYN or a GYN/ONC?  MV

I think your specialist will have you do a transvaginal ultrasound and possibly an endometrial biopsy to evaluate the irregular bleeding. Neither test is bad and a lot of info can be gained from them.
