In may I found out I had dermoid tumors in both ovaries, one was the size of a softball the other was the size of a golfball. In June my doctor removed one ovary and tube and removed the tumor out of the other one and cleaned the ovary out but left it so I wouldn't have to have a hysterectomy and take hormones, I had just turned 36 so I really didnt want to have to start taking hormones. After two months I started having pain in my side and lower back so I went back to my doctor for some tests. My tumor is already back and is growing fast. After only 3 1/2 months I have to go back and have surgery again this time I will have to have a full hysterectomy!

A teratoma of the ovary is most normally a benign dermoid cyst....It is made up of fat, hair, boney things like teeth....The majority of these cysts 96% are benign....These type of cysts usually occur in women of child bearing years...How old is your sister.  With the size of the cyst she has are they planning on surgery soon.  There is a related community on here called the cyst forum, those women are very knowledgeable about this kind of cyst as well as others.  If you visit there they will probably help with your questions and fears. I hope this info helps....Take care Dawnlyn
