Ruptured Ovarian Cyst

For a few months I had been suffering from all the common symptoms of an ovarian cyst or cancer, loosing a fair bit of blood. I spoke to my doctor & he told me I was being silly, this only appears in "old" women. 3 weeks ago I was admitted to hospital after experiencing severe abdominal pain & a bit of a fever, cold sweats & feeling faint. Iv'e suffered from IBS for several years and thought it was related. At first they suspected appendicitis, after a transvaginal ultrasound it was discovered I had a ruptured ovarian cyst, after being given plenty of painkillers I was sent home with no treatment or follow up appointment booked. Today I'm still suffering from pain & unbearable discomfort + all over body aching. I'm extremley tired all the time & feel completley drained, I'm getting cold sweats & am constantly short of breath. I saw my doctor in an emergency appointment today & he's doing blood tests for anemia & just restocked me up on painkillers. I feel I'm just covering the problem with drugs & I'm worried what is going on inside me...any advice??

Ovarian cysts occur in women of ALL ages, NOT just old women!  What rock did your dr crawl out from under?

Seriously, if the cyst has already ruptured the pain should be getting better pretty quickly.  Perhaps your IBS is causing the other pain/symptoms?

I know!!! I'm currently filing a complaint, I had only just changed doctors after not being happy with the last lot. perhaps it could have been avoided if he had actually listened to me.

the pain is a lot lower than i usually experience with IBS. I've read that it should clear up within a few days, but this has been constant for 3 weeks & I worry a little bit

I understand your anxeity.  Your doctor is a complete moron!!  What kind of doctor would say that you are to young to have on ovarian cyst.  How old are you?  I am 31 and have been suffering from ovarian cyst since I was in my early 20's.  I have had 3 cyst rupture.  The pain should be going away soon.  Please get another doctor.  Do you think that you may have a touch of the ful also?  Please keep us posted.  Kasie

Yeah, I'm now seeing a different doc, he's ok...I've never had a really good doctor, I don't trust them due to various wrong judgements.
I'm 20, & all my docs have made me feel like I'm waisting their time, which clearly I'm not. But I don't confide in them so it's nice to find a forum full of wise women!!!
Y'know my mum has reminded me I have Gilberts Syndrome, so perhaps dragging the symptoms out!?
This was not really explained to me but was diagnosed 3 years ago. mmmm?
Think I'll research that 1!!
thank you
