Went to Dr for low right pain

Well I decided to go ahead and call my Dr today about this pain in my side.I also have burning when I pee now and sometimes it hurts if I have to push to get it to start. So he is sending me for a IVP test.He said something about a kidney stone, kidney infection or possible blockage or collasped urethra??? I have no clue about all this.I am going to read on it some more..Still didnt get any pain meds..How thoughtful of him...I will let you all know as I find out more..

The burning makes me think it might be an infection.  Just what you need, huh?  Did the dr give you antibiotics?  I hope this gets resolved soon, you have been through enough!  Hugs

Yes he did go ahead and give me "Cipro". He said that there was a little bacteria in the urine and a few white cells. His concern was that it takes a while for me to start to urinate and then it dribbles and stops then it takes a minute to restart..He said if it was the blocked or collasped urethra he wanted to find out before it did damage to the kidney.

Hey, sorry you feel bad. Burning pee is the worst. I had a chronic UTI problem and have had 2 IVP's....The give u an IV of dye and then take the pics of urinary tract. Hope all goes well with you!
Take care,

Those were the same symptoms I had with my uti after my surgery.  Didn't realize I had one because of the surgery pain.  Dr. put me on cipro too!  I hope this is all it is!

By the way, you must have a UTI or he wouldn't have seen bacteria and blood (white cells) in the urine, Cipro is an antibiotic that should clear it up. Also, there is another test they can do called a VCUG (voiding cystourethrogram) ...I've had it too....they put a catheter in and fill your bladder to the max with fluid, then they tilt the exam table up a little bit (so that gravity can help you pee, I guess!) That's right, I said pee, you're supposed to pee(void) on the table so that the picture machine above your belly can get pictures of how the urinary tract empties. (like if your having urine refluxing upwards or having a flap problem on the ureters (tubes from the bladder)
Anyway, just wanted u to be aware. :-)
Good Luck,

one of my daughters has kidney reflux...grade 2 in her left, and grade 3 in her right..we were unaware of this untill she became very very ill may1....our local hospital had her careflighted to childrens hospital..at the time, her temp was 105.2..and hr white count was 36,000!!!the hospital was scared to death.she spent 5 days in childrens hospital with a severe kdiney and uti infection caused from the kidney reflux..she has to have renal ultra sounds, and vcug done every 6 months..she is on a dailey dose of antibiotics every single day and has been since may..her urologist told me that if her reflux gets worse,or she has even one breakthrough uti, that they will be doing surgery on her...

My daughter was tested for this when she was 4mos old.She was admitted to the hospital at 6wks old for a severe UTI.stayed for 3days.Then again at 3mos another stay for 3days. She had several small infections in between the big ones. They sent her to the childrens hospital to test her for the reflux. She didnt have it..Just chronic UTI's.They put her a daily dose of antibotic for 6mos.Then we took her off to see if she would another one..She is now almost 2yrs old and hasnt had any problems since. Her only sign at that time was very high fever.Highest was 105.4..Very scary..How old is your daughter?
