acid reflux

Does anyone believe that when acid reflux is active,  it is a sign that the cancer is returning?

Hi,  Thanks for the help.   I had good news,  the CA went from 88 to 59 still on Topotecan.  Also, I think I should stay away from Salami.   Just had one piece and bingo,  brings on the acid reflux.   You all are such a great help to me and everyone on the site.   Hearing the stories are such in not giving into this.

Thanks again....

Hi Amy,

Dian is right about every little twitch you may have automatically making you think it's cancer.  Whew - it changes you forever, and it's hard to get past the fear, even if it you don't show it.  I had some gastro symptoms before I was diagnosed, but the real problems didn't start until after surgery.  And now that I don't have a gallbladder either, I find it's become even worse.  I take famotadine and Protonix to try to fight the acid, but I still seem to have an over-abundance of it.  Your increase could just be a result of everything you've gone through.  Chemo works on everything in your body, and it isn't far fetched to think it's just a result of how hard it's been on your body.

I hope you are doing well otherwise.  It is always good to hear from you!

My recurrence presented with nausea, not acid reflux.  Went to FP who ordered an upper GI and a pelvic CT found the recurrence and a hiatal hernia.  If you are not sure, as Dian says call and ask, we need all the reassurance we can get with this disease.  Was your last CA 125 good, because that is an early indicator of something changing.  Good luck, keep us posted

I don't think so.....certainly there would be a variety of symptoms presenting.  I have acid reflux/indigestion occasionally and I don't believe for a minute that is what it means.  If that is the case my husband just might have oc too!  Actually, every time anything comes up I wonder "is this oc again?"......I do believe that reaction is perfectly normal.  If I get a twitch in my lower abdominal region I think "oh no....that feels like an ovary ovulating" or "hmmm....that feels like the pressure I felt on the rectum before my surgery"......sometimes I can be so paranoid.......now watch....I have my check up with my gyn on next Monday......as much as I dread those appts they are wonderful security blankets!  It is so easy to say "try not to borrow trouble" but when we have dealt with the monster we know it can be hiding around the next corner and that is scary.  Hang in there....if you are really worried call your onc team and talk with them....if you need reassurance from your doc go see him/her and talk.  Don't let this fear ruin your days or your Holiday Season......you have been through enough already!
Peace.
