ca125 elevated

I am 40 yrs. old and have had one ovary removed due to a cyst and  an elevated ca125 count.a biopsy was performed and it was nothing. Three months later i have had follow up blood work and my ca 125 has elevated even more.A ultrasound has been performed, another cyst has been found but they do not think it is the problem. He wants me to wait 5 more weeks for more blood work and another ultrasound. I do not feel comfortable about his decision. Am i over reacting? Is 5 weeks to long?

Thank you both very much.
I have called my doc. and I have requested more tests and for them to be done sooner than 5 wks. You both have helped me think more positive about my situation and to not second guess my gut feelings. My husband thanks you too!
God bless to both of you!

Hello... and yes, I started Taxotere/Carboplatin in December and just had the second treatment last week. I had a CA.125 after the first treatment and it had dropped down 186. ...not much, but still a much needed reduction. I had good results with this combo in '04 when my CA.125 dropped to 12... an all time low for me. Hoping for good news this time too, with 4 treatments to go.
Wishing you well, and hope you are feeling fine....Helmar..

Hello... Just for your own peace of mind, maybe a second opinion would be good. The CA.125 test is not always accurate in telling the true story, but I wouldn't leave things 'as is' for 5 weeks. I was 'fobbed off' by my GP and after many, many  weeks, was given a dx of Ovca 3/4. It could have easily been 1A had they acted quicker.
My current CA.125 is over 7000 but I'm feeling really well...still going about my daily routine without any worries, and a great appetite, so I guess one can't gauge it all on the numbers.
I wish you all the best, and hope things work out for you...Helmar...

Helmar- if you don't mind me asking, with a CA125 over 4000, are you now undergoing any more treatment?  I believe you said your last was Doxil.  Thanks

It is O.K. to be scared.  The CA125 tests aren't always taken as stand-alone tests and it depends on how elevated.  My doctor said she only gets anxious if they are 100+.  Have you seen a gynecologist/oncologist?  I strongly encourage you to see one.  They specialize in just what you are going through.

Praying for you,
Lisa
