Hi Please keep in mind most ovarian cysts are benign! Having said that any "septated complex cyst warrants a thorough work up to rule out any potential issues. It is very small but again needs to be evaluated. I would be asking for a cat scan or MRI. I would rather have the MRI as it is a much more of an in detail test. You can read my other posts on complex cysts/mass that gets into it more in depth
I talked with my GYN today and she said it is most likely a ovulation cyst and to be rechecked in two cycles. Do u still think I should ask for an MRI?
Its hard to say with only the vauge info you supplied. It is usually easy for an experienced radilogist to tell the difference between a cyst and a mass. Sometimes it can be indeterminate but that would be reported that way. Do you have a copy of the sonogram results? If not get one you are entitiled to have copies of all your test and blood work. Report the exact wording of the sonogram. As I said your Cyst is small but should be evaluated further. Ask your gyn if he can be certain its only a cyst based on the sonogram verbage. Unfortunately in the healthcare field you have to be your own advocate and the squeaky wheel gets the oil so be agrressive for your own sake. Hoefully this will turn out to be a simple cyst and all will be good but at least you will get answers
Good Luck
Kevin
Here is the sonogram results.
Ultrasound examination of the pelvis was performed via endovaginal approach. The uterus measures 9.1 x 6.2 x 4.7 cm. The endometrial stripe measures 8.3 mm. The uterus contains a small fibroid measuring 8.5 mm. Nabothian cysts are seen in the cervix. The right ovary measures 2.7 cm and contains a septated complex cyst measuring 1.2 cm. The resistive index on the right side is 0.6. The left ovary measures 2.7 cm and shows follicular changes. The resistive index on the left side is 0.5. Follow up ultrasound wiht attention to the right ovary in 2-3 months is recommended. There is no evidence of free fluid in the pelvic cavity.
Can you interpret this to me....so thankful for you helping me in this matter. TY

You did not say why you had your TV sonogram? Your cyst is small but "complex" and "septated" is of some concern, all can very well be a simple cysts and thats that. again, ask your Dr if he thinks you can wait for a follow up sonogram or just do an MRI now. Here is a scenario, what if in 4-6wks the repeat TV sono shows the same thing is it prudent to get an MRI then? Or just get one now>
