It depends on the composition of the cyst. I imagine this news was quite a surprise. Are you scheduled to have it removed?
yes he said i needed it removed as soon as possible.should i be really worried because its so big
From what I have read on this forum, some large cysts are benign and some are not. The only true way for them to determine whether it is benign or not is from the biopsy they will perform during surgery. I wish you the best. Let us know how it goes.
i had a ct scan today and they can't believe i'm able 2 still pee an poo and its pressing on my kidneys and their starting 2 back up. i live in a small comunity and the hospital isn't equiped for what i need done because the mass is so big they can't even really tell.my guestion is just to day i learn my insurence was drop because u have 2 reenroll your spouse every year and we didn't know. my husban make 2 much money for medicare but it take 3months any way. do i have any options and will any one else even see me with no insurence.
I just did a quick search and see where you live. Where did the people who did your ct scan recommend you have surgery? Is Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton an option? Even better, I would ask for a referral to the University of Oklahoma Hospital in Norman. Insurance should not be an issue there. If a referral is an unforeseen issue, since time is of the essence, I would simply get in the car and drive to the emergency room at the University Hospital in Norman. All the best.
This is something you need to take care of NOW, if the cyst should rupture then you will be in a lot more distress. Yes I agree, go to the ER and with most University hospitals they do take care of not only emergencies but those without insurance. Good Luck
The radioology staff that did the ct said that the hospital didn't have the equipment to do this kind of surgery, but my Dr. wants to try to do it, even though the raidiologist sent the ct scan to a radiologist in tulsa, and he siad that they didnt have the equipment down there to do the surgery. And when I asked my Dr. if i could get into a university hospital He said it would be a three month wait without even getting on the phone. Im going to call today and demand a referral beacause im 21 years old and i dont want a historectimy, What are you thoughts about what my Dr. is doing?
Thank You so much, All your help has helped me immencly/
my grandma die of ovarian cancer, and so did her mother. My mother had a historectomy at age 30.My doctor nows but they said at my age their usually benigh. sould i worry? i think maybe i sould change doctors!!
and thank agin for all the help!!
Thats bu**** get another doctor - you have a first degree relative who had OC at 30 but he says that you can't get it at 21 stupid idiot. Yes it might well be benign but lets not play Russian Roulette - it needs to come out. There are those who disagree BUT there is research that shows that the huge cyts are benign more often than the smaller ones. Malignant cysts tend not to grow that large. This is not always the case because I know a couple of ladies with huge cysts who were in the early stages. Mine was so big it was pressing on my diaphram and my surgeon said that these are usually boarderline at most. My money is on a cystadenoma - but it needs to come out. A cyst this size can cause damage even when benign!
Get it out ASAP and definetly have a gyn/onc do the surgery

Good for you for getting another doctor!
I don't care what any doctor says about 'being too young' - that is BS. If you had a mother and grandmother with OC than I would put my foot down and make these doctors listen. Not that it could be cancer - I'm just saying some doctors need to pay more attention to their patients ;-)
I am so happy you are getting this taken care of!
Let everyone here know how it goes :-)
Ooops sorry, I misread your post!
Correction: I should have said if your Grandmother and HER mother had the cancer.
Try not to worry too much about this - enjoy the holidays! :-)
