OBGYN QUESTION

i am 13 years old and i am going to see a obgyn in a week or so for ovarian cysts. they said it would take an hour and a half, and i was just wondering what they do. can someone tell me what they would do to a teenager? im just curious and I dont really want them doing anything i dont want them to, my mom said they wont if im not comfortable. can anyone answer this question about what they do?

yes they are. i've had many. but what else could take that long?

If it is your first time going there will be alot of paperwork to fill out hun.  Usually with the first time visit with a teenager the doctor will first take you into his office and talk with you and explain everything that he/she will do. I remember my first visit and I was so nervous just remember they have seen most everything.Even though some the question and exams are imbarasing it is nessassary to be completely honest with the doctor.  If you mom comes with you they usually leave it up to you if you want your mom in the exam with you.  Don't be nervous, its just part of becoming a woman hun. Hey there young lady...I would like to suggest you ask your mom what tests they plan to run on you.....if she doesn't know, ask her to please call the doctor's office and find out what you are scheduled for...then you can come back here and we will discuss the procedure with you...otherwise we are just guessing.  I like to know what is going on before they do anything to me just like you do...knowledge is power....and I am impressed with your attempt to gain power through knowledge...Good Job!!

thanks. it gives me an idea of what might happen. they sent all the  paperwork to my home so I dont have to fill it out there. my mom said the nurse there said they definately wont do anything internally, im too young for that. its actually a guy doctor so it would be weird, but theres a nurse there that im going to see instead. my appointment is in about a week and a half so i'll keep you ladies posted on this!

The 1st exam will most likely be the dr going over the questions and answers on the form and asking questions about you and any symptoms you are experiencing. All this getting to know you can take time. I wont promise you that an exam wont take place but it is unlikely. The most I think will happen at your age is check urine blood pressure maybe order another ultrasound and blood test. Some of the questions you may find embarrassing but they really necessary.
