Unfortunatly, you cannot know until they get in there if they can save the ovary. I lost my right ovary 6 months ago at 26 due to a dermoid that took over the entire ovary and there was not enough good tissue to keep. My Co-workers daughter had a large simple cyst in December and lost the ovary due to it being "soft and squishy" and would not recover. You should be fine with a single ovary although I had quite an adjustment due to losing half of the hormones all of a sudden.- Talk about a moody grump of a person.
Hi there, try to keep in mind there are many noncancerous conditions that can raise ca125 levels (I'm still waiting on my ca125 results for complex cyst)even a benign cyst can raise it.You are wise to seek second opinion. I know how frightening it is,so I can relate (I'm 28 yrs old) your in my prayers..keep us posted!

I got the name of my gyn/onc from my primary care physician. I also called my insurance company to see who was on our list. We did not have one in network, so my pcp did a referal to my insurance, and they approved my visits. It may take a few phone calls, but I am sure you can get in contact with one. If you have any other questions, just let us know. Kasie
