I do concur that you should get some help for your pain.  I also think this just occurring now, so many days after surgery is unexpected.  You should be feelng better by now, not worse.  The fact that your incision is infected further complicates your healing and that should be checked out too.  Being on antibiotics, you could possiby have a vaginal yeast infection.  Don't be afraid to call the on-call doc.  That is why they are on call.  It would also be a good idea to have an examination, esecially if you have a fever or vaginal discharge. Hope you feel better!

Do take care of yourself - try not to overdo it just yet, although I know that as women that's difficult to do.  Make sure you get lots of rest and recover to the fullest.

Hi Soniek
Sorry, not tmi, but how long ago was your hysterectomy?  It is normal to feel vaginal pain because your cervix is directly connected to your vagina. But it should not last more than 7 days at the most after surgery.  So, basically they cut a hole in your vaginal wall to take out all the cervical tissue and stitched it up.   Don't allow yourself to "put up with"  too much pain though because it can slow your healing.  I can imagine the hot flashes are miserable too.  Are you on hormone replacement therapy (HRT?), if not you may want to discuss with your doc.

Hi, you should not use hydrogen peroxide on the opening to the wound if is deep and has red "new looking" tissue as it can scour away good healthy tissues.  You want it to get rid of the dead, infected tissue. Bacitracin may possibly come in a wound cleaner form, but my experience with it is as an ointment goop to be used after cleaning to help "seal" the wound and kill bacteria that are left over.  By all means do what your doc recommends.

Praise the Maker you are doing well! Don't be too hard on yourself, do whatcha have to do.  Avoid driving for at least 2 weeks if possible though.  You should brace your abdomen with a pillow even when in the car as a passenger.  For your open wound you could try an iodine or even hydrogen peroxide solution.  Don't use iodine in any form if you are allergic to shellfish.  Antibacterial soap and water would be ok too.  You should clean from closest to the incision out toward the intact skin.  Don't rub hard or go from the outer parts toward the incision because you'll be moving germs to the site of infection, possibly making it worse.  Is your incision actively draining? Are the edges puffy and bright or red?

You are such a trooper!!  Try to rest and maybe someone else can drive for a while.  Hang in there.
