laproscopic surgery scheduled w/DNC

I'm scheduled for surgery next Tuesday (28 March) to remove 6cm complex cyst in left ovary. Also doing a DNC at the same time to provide my uterus a 'fresh start' per the doctor (I've had alot of abnormal bleeding since last summer).  I've been told the DNC can cause more pain/recovery time then the cyst removal.  Does anyone have any info?  Not sure if this is common, haven't seen much talk of this procedure in this forum.  Thanks again for any help.  Even though I'm generally a bystander on the side (just read, not alot of posting!) I'm inpired by all of you and always educated by your comments.

I am in agony the last 15 yrs. with the menopause blues.  I woke up at 43 with my entire bed covered in blood and have bleeding problems ever since.  Because the hot flashes were so bad, and the nightmares so intense and the non-stop eating cravings which did nothing to get rid of or allay my symptoms.  Gained 100 lbs.  Finally went on HRT.  The only relief was from the estrogen patches which take two hours to kick in.  But if not replaced every two days, the whole thing would begin again.  But I've never been able to get the bleeding under control.  Have unterine hyperplasia. And have only lost 14 lbs. but it is better than nothing.  Have trouble exercising while bleeding.  I used to be a gym rat.  But began breaking out in sweats and dizziness while working out. I had to quit.  I miss it sooo much.

i had the dnc with the lap the doctor told me that if this didn't work that i was going to have everthing
remove. also after having a dnc having sex sometimes the first time afterwards or while doing it will burn. the doctor forgot to tell me that. but i can really say if i didn't get one i would be in the worst shape than what i'm today.

Well, this DNC/thermal ablation/uterine polyp removal was a breeze.  I have been home for about two hours; my surgery started later than scheduled.  The worst part about it was the difficulty finding a vein to support my IV.  I am tired (very sleepy, probably a combination of residue of the anesthesia and the lack of sleep the past two nights) but I have only mild to moderate pain in my uterine area (like menstrual cramping).  Compared to the laparoscopic procedure, this one is a big nothing.

It might be that having both the lap and the dnc at the same time will increase your discomfort and possibly the length of recovery time.  However, having had a lap, and having observed many friends and family who had DNCs, I can add that the lap recovery seems much longer.   The DNC "victims" needed at most a few days.  Even with my high pain tolerance, it was two weeks from my surgery before I was 'healed.'  Even then I had to be careful about lifting heavy objects.

Anyway, I am leaving in an hour for a "DNC/thermal ablation/uterine polyp removal" and I can tell you in a day or so (barring complications) which of the procedures is the worst!
