I too had ascites in the abdomen and giving me a lot of gas and diahrea all the time...Mine was removed when I had my hysterectomy. I also had fluid in my right lung which caused me to be out of breath all the time. That was drained with a needle, like Dian said and sent to lab to be tested...After they test the fluid, doctor can tell you if further action need to take place like chemo...Please seek another opinion or consult with her Gyno...so drain and test then if need be, consult.
It appears your Mother has "ascites" in her abdomen...that is the water you are speaking of...ascites are not unusual and are usually removed by tapping the abdominal cavity...the doctors insert a needle and drain the fluid.....I haven't heard anyone being denied treatment because of the potential bleeding or nerve damage. I would seek another opinion and insist her discomfort be relieved. I cannot speak to the chemo being recommended or not....she needs to discuss this with her oncologist. Please give my best to your Mother.
Peace.
