ovarian cancer and retiform purpura.. please help

My sister had all ovarian cancer surgically removed in 2010, then had several bouts of unsuccessful chemotherapy.  Cancer spread to a tennis size tumor on left thigh.  Dr. didn't recommend surgery.  Now breaking out with rash on abdomen, back, legs leading to bleeding.  Dr. thinks it is retiform purpura. Skin very thin and when rash breaks open, it is open wounds. Does anyone have any information or experience with this?  sljl

My skin was bad but it healed completely and I have had more Doxil. They did reduce the dosage of Doxil.

Right now, her Drs have stopped the Doxil last week after 5 rounds and are having biopsies on her skin to see if it is the medicine or if it is cancer.  Her Dr. has never seen anyone with her condition and is researching on what to do for her.  

I'm so glad I found you and have forwarded your info to her.  She can ask her doctor for it.

Methylprednisone Dose Pack. The dose Pack is important. My whole back and stomach looked like bubble wrap and then the blisters popped. It was a mess but that was Xmas and it has not happened since. I have had 8 rounds of Doxil and am heading for 9. I plan to ride a horse before number 9.

Yes you do need a prescription. They make all the difference. I am going on a beach retreat this week end and I had Doxil a week ago and no blisters. I have had them so bad they have had to stop treatment.

Thank you, Alex, for your reply.  Are you taking Doxil with a steoid to stop rash?

Yes, she is on Doxil for chemo.  Some of the rash has broken through and as she moves, it cracks and she starts to bleed.  Dr. thinks it is blood clots under her skin and no oxygen or nutrients are getting to her skin so the skin is dying and developing into rashes.  He is considering blood thinner to reduce the blood clotting under her skin but what about bleeding out if there's no skin?

She is not on Doxil for chemo is she?  That can cause rash. I am on steroids for rash.
