Has anyone ever had a small 2cm or less complex ovarian cyst that turned out to be cancer?  Did you have cyst this size removed and did it cause you symptoms?  Thank you!

Hi,
Complex cysts contain both solid and liquid components, many women with Endometriosis have these type of cysts and although some are found to be malignant most are benign. If you google complex ovarian cysts you will find lots of information.

Best wishes

Thank you for responding.  Doctor has told me she can remove the cyst or we can do the watch and wait thing.  I had mastectomy last year for breast cancer after doing the watch and wait thing so I am not a big fan.  I am taking tamoxifen for the breast cancer and between the tamoxifen and an utuerine ablation I had two years ago I am no longer menstruating.  However, during the four weeks between my first two ultrasound my uterus appears larger and my endometrium increased from 3.3mm to 5mm.  Don't know why endometrium is increasing if I am not having periods.  I do go back to doctor on the 8th of September to give her my decision.  I was just wondering if anyone else had had this type of experience.  Cyst is small but I am having symptoms, constant cramping, pain on right side and upper right thigh(although I'm not sure why my thigh is hurting).  So I'm guessing she will want to take it out and since waiting and watching didn't really work out so well for me in the past I will probably let her!  Again thanks for your quick response.  Any responses are very greatly appreciated!

The size of the mass does not determine if it is benign or not.  Doctors do not usually remove a cyst unless it is 5 cms or bigger as at that point it can twist and cause problems.  A complex cyst does mean cancerous.

What else did they say?  Are you still menstruating?  When do you have to go back?
