Thank you for your advice.Well see my g'mas sister had ovarian cancer and she was 67,and I worked with a lady at a daycare and I got really attached to her and she was only 50,but she is doing great. So I just worry about things.....I actually take medicine for anxiety.
what were your symptoms when you were diagnosed?see I have never had normal periods, and my husband and I are trying to have another baby.Well I was told I have a bladder infection, but my stomach feels so bloated and I feel like I have to go to the bathroom all the time, thats the only symptom I have.
I don't want to seem like it can't happen to young women. As shown above it sure can. I think if you are in good health, are not aware of any family history and have regular check-ups you shouldn't let worry consume you. 50% of all ovarian cancer hits women over 60. I am sorry if I left the wrong impression. Marie
Hi,
i was 22 when i was first diagnosed, i dont want to scare you but rather offer some good advice i had to learn the hard way :) be aware of the symtoms and listen to your body..always make sure you know exactly what outcome you want from doctors visits and if you are ever ill dont let doctors or anyone tell you that you are "too young". That being said you really should not be stressing about things that have not happened i was ill for 2 years and in awlful pain before being diagnosed! and i honestly believe stress is the worst thing for cancer!
However i dont agree that OVCA is extremely rare for women our age in fact borderline tumours with non invasive implants are quite common in younger women (20's and 30's).
Live life and be happy!
There are different tumor types of ovarian cancer. Mine is mucinous ovarian cancer. It usual shows up in women in their ealy 40s to 50, most commonly. I am 47. I think average age is higher for other types of ovarian cancer. At your age ovarian cancer is extremely rare. My advice to you is just to take good care of yourself. Get your annual gyn exams and pap smears. They don't show ovarian cancer, but they are important. Don't worry so much. Just enjoy your precious life. Marie
