Period bleeding or something else??

I dont go to get my ultrasound to check for cysts until the 1st but I just experienced something really weird and it kind of scared me.

My period has always been regular until recently. I was going on my 4th month without one but have been having sharp shooting pains where my ovaries are.

Tonight I got upset about something and was already in pain but because I started crying hysterically it made the pain worse. It was so bad I doubled over and laid on the ground. Then I started bleeding.

I have never really had cramps with my periods but these ones were excruciating...it wasnt a gush of blood or anything. It actually seemed normal. But because of the intense pain and the fact that I havent had my period in a while it surprised and scared me.

So my question is...is this bleeding just the result of my period coming back or if I do have a cyst could have ruptured it by being so upset and distressed?

Hi there!

I'm fairly new to this board too so I'm not sure how much I can help, but I'll try :-)
I experinced something similiar to you only last Thursday night, but I had only had my period 20 days before.I have had a scan which shows a cyst 5.5cm and am waiting to see a specialist.I was so worried about this awful pain and the blood I phoned my Dr who calmed me.As the day went on I discovered that it was in fact my period (although have always been 28/30.
Because mine is quite big I think I would know all about it if it burst.I would STRONGLY recommend you at least phone your Dr straight away though and explain.Hope you're feeling better?

Hi,

Did the pain lessen when you got your period?  I'm no expert, but having been in a similar situation (and not knowing at the time exactly where my ovaries were despite having two children!), I kept on going back to the doctors until I got action.  So, maybe you should be doing the same.  You're worried enough to post here, and therefore someone will listen to you.

Please go and see your doctor if you can.
