Bloating after Laparothomy

My mother had her 3rd laparothomy 2 weeks ago.
It was very complicated surgery and doctors were able t remove aboout 95+% of tumors. Large part of her intestins was reoved as well as uterus and ovaries. There are some tumors left in liver ans stomach but they could not be removed at this point and the decsion was to go for 2nd line chemo.

She spent about 10 days in hospital and had her Ng tub in her stomach because digestion does not seem to recover fast. However she was already walking on the second day and  see not to be in much pain.
Since we got back home she complains a lot about bloating.  Up to the poin that she cannot wait till appointment on 11/28. My understanding is that feeling of fullness can mosly come from not completely recovered digestive system. However she insists it is ascites fluids.

Could it be it? Can they come back in such a big amount just 2 weeks after the surgery ?  Or is it her fears of cancer contributing to her thoughts of this being ascite ?

It is so important to start the chemo asap. I'm not sure if anything else can be done at this point besides getting her hospitalized so that she can receive fluids. I also had a total hysterectomy and experienced massive bloating and some fluid. Once I started chemo, the fluid was gone. Thank you Sparky for the suggestion, I will also try the pear juice as I still experience some bloating. Best of luck Bina to your mother. With love, Deandra

Thank you, sparky911!

I took my mother to emergency room today. She was dehydrated. There was ascites fliuid but not the only reason for bloating. Plus gasses and indigestion.
Problem here is she is refusing to eat and drinks very little, so she is getting weaker and weaker. In the mean time the only way to stop fluids is chemotherapy. But she is tii wek to have it and getting weaker and weaker.
I wonder if anything can be done in this condition.

Hello-
I am sorry to hear about your mom.  I had a total hysterectomy a few weeks ago with the same bloating problem.  You may want to consider this.  I was told to slowly drink a glass of pear juice or pear nectar and that would help with constipation and bloating and it has.  It may be a bit hard to find but can be found in the baby food section of the grocery. I found individual bottles in the section of a local store.  I no longer have the pain associated with bloating but puffiness is still there after 3 weeks.  Best of luck.
