painful swollen ovary

ok i spent like 5 hours in the ER with a bunch of tests done, and they said that one of my ovaries is swollen and my white blood cell count is abnormal... i know that can be a sign of cancer, but could it be a sign of something else? like an infection? something? im worried, because not only is my ovary swollen it hurts a lot, im on vicodin, and im still feeling the pain! i am really worried, what else can it be other than cancer?
Background info: i have had a very large cist on that ovary removed (8cm long and the width of a grape fruit) and in January i had it checked and was told there was not any more cist on my ovaries, could the CT scan been wrong?
also you may want to keep in mind that i am 16, and there is no history of any cancer on my moms side, and i have no idea about any histroy on my dads side. there has never been fertility problems in my family, and there has not been any problems with anyones reproductive system at all at any point in time.
Plz i need some kinda confirmation

Good luck and don't stop until you have your questions answered.  Don't let your age prevent you from people taking you seriously.  I have no idea, as I've only just found out about all this stuff myself but I reckon you should keep going until you are satisfied.

I can't give advice for the possible problem, but yes, it can be an infection -- That will also alter your WBC counts.

But, for the pain, some pain meds work better on some people than others.  There are other pain meds that you can try.  I'd call your Dr. and let them know that the vicoden is not kicking the pain and see if they will give you a new Rx.  There shouldn't be a reason for you to be in pain.

My other words of advice are not to worry too much until you have more answers.  It's good to do research, but the research can be scary.  Good luck!
