Thank you Gail
I was and still am in pretty good health (except for the cancer). I am very active and have a positive attitude so I was really surprised to be diagnosed with cancer as I feel so healthy.
I had three lots of chemo, a debulking operation followed by three more lots of chemo. My CA125 reading went from 4,000 to 8 after the debulking and chemo. However four months after the op, my chemo went back up to 550 and then now, a month later to 1000. I had been told after my operation that they thought they had gotten all of the cancer. I have confidence in my specialist and oncologist but still have many questions. It's good to know six years have gone by since your diagnosis. I note though that you are much younger. I hope you will continue to enjoy life and good health. Many thanks and good luck
Jacqueline
No one progresses the same way. Much depends of the type of ovarian cancer, the grade (high or low) and how well treatment goes. It also depends on basic health...were you in pretty good health before diagnosis? Some people endure treatment better than others, and the response can vary greatly. Have you had surgery, and if so, how much of the cancer was removed? Are you under the care of a gynecological oncologist or a regular gynecologist?
I was diagnosed at stage 3 just over 6 years ago, and I'm still here. So don't think its a lost cause.
Good luck to you and please keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.
Gail
