told i had fibroids but they shouldn't be hurting me

Don't know if this is the right message board but I have a question I need an answer to.  For the past few months I have experienced mild pain/discomfort in my lower RIGHT pelvic area, that occasionally seemed like it was going down my right leg a bit.  I knew I had a gyn appointment the beginning of March so when I went to her I mentioned it.  My concern was endometriosis because my mother and sister have both dealt with it.  During the exam when the doctor pressed on my LEFT side I experienced pain that actually cause me to say something.  The when she did an "internal" exam and palpated what I think was my left ovary I had the same pain.  The Dr said she didn't notice anything but that the pain was not normal.  She scheduled an ultrasound for me that was the next day.  I had a pelvic ultrasound and an endovaginal ultrasound.  3 days later her nurse called and said I had two fibroids but the doctor said they shouldn't be causing pain.  I said "well I have pain, so what do I do?".  The nurse said "go to your PCP".  This sounded dumb to me cause I think he'd refer me to a gynecologist.  I failed to ask about the size or location of the fibroids.  I don't know if these have anything to do with what felt like pain in my left ovary.  Anyway, I've made an appointment with my PCP.  Anyone experience this or have an opinion what I should do?  Get a new gynecologist?

This post should probably be on the ovarian cyst forum, but I don't know how you go about doing that. However, lots of women on here have had experience with fibroids so you should get answers. I think that your PCP isn't going to do anything but refer you back to your gyn, so maybe see your PCP, tell her the results and what your gyn said and she if she knows of another gyn that you could go get a 2nd opinion. I currently have a cyst that is giving me lots of pain, although it is small. The docs will tell you that they don't cause pain or bloating, but having been on these forums, and listened to personal stories, I know that is not true. Good luck and let us know!

I highly suggest to have a New Gyn, bring all the copy of your US result.  U need to find the reason of your pain and I'm sure u will have it when you find a caring Gyn.

Peace and Love
