John's Hopkins without a doubt. It's in Baltimore, MD. Dana Farber in Boston, MA, Mass General in Boston, MA. Loma Linda in California.
Check out Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. Have been there for surgery twice...can't say enough great things about them. Their research is highly respected.

I was particularly impressed with the manner in which Memorial Sloan Kettering deals with and welcomes international students. When you have the opportunity, access www.mskcc.org Good luck!

Just curious as to where you are from. I had my surgery at Vanderbilt last August. I agree that it is a wonderful hospital, and that I couldn't have asked for better, but it's not often mentioned on this site. So that made me curious about you. I'm in Western KY, by the way.
Gail :)
Sorry...I have STUDENTS on the brain. I meant international PATIENTS!
You really got my mind working with the original question. Since its not always possible for people to have the means and such to travel great distances, what options do they have if they're seeking true gyn/onc caregivers? I googled "cancer hospitals in north america" and came up with the url below
www.cancer-guru.com//Cancer_Treatment_Hospitals.aspx
Any thoughts on this?

MD Anderson in Houston Texas is considered one of the foremost cancer treatment hospitals.
MD Anderson in Houston is supposed to be one of the best. I do know from first hand experience that people travel from all over the world to get treated here.

Sloan in NY and MD Anderson in Houston are consistently ranked the top 2 in the US. I am at MD Anderson now and thrilled with my doctors and the care I get.
I don't know how accurate this is, but the magazine US News has a "best hopital" list. You can do a search for "U.S. News best hospitals" (I think it's usnews.com) and it lists them by category. It seems to agree w/what the other commenters on this site are saying. However, for cancer, it listed JH near the top, and I went there just for an office visit, and decided not to go there for various reasons. Unfortunately I ended up in the emergency room at another hospital and had surgery at one that's not even on the list - if I had the time, and had known in advance I have cancer, I probably would have tried the 1st one on the list - Sloan Kettering? in NY - I've heard very good things about them. Hope that helps.
Its just a thought, although British, we have been living in the Middle East for 12 years now, now in Jordan, when my wife was first diagnosed it was recommended that she sort treatment in Israel, they have excellent Cancers centers several off shoot of USA specialised hospitals, with the doctors swapping between them, the one we used was ICOLOB in Tel Aviv, they have what they call Medical tourism, which allows outsiders to use their hospiatls, they are aggresive treaters, as their motto, 'if we fail, the patient suffers, not us!
