I have 10.5 year old identical twin girls with stomachs that generally seem bloated and protruding all the time. They are getting to that age when it is bothering them. They are extremely active in sports (soccer, tennis and basketball), eat very healthy and according to the height/weight pyramids they are slightly higher than average on height and average on weight. When our twin girls were born, their pediatrician at the time made an interesting comment – he said that your girls will “never have 6 pack abs”. We moved away from that city when they were 2 so we didn’t get a chance to ask what he meant by that. We’ve asked numerous Doctors if there is something abnormal with their muscles and no one has been able to tell us anything. We have researched various things: Diastasis Recti, Lumbar Lordosis, tight Psoas muscle, etc. They are now actively taking probiotics as it seemed like their digestive system was in poor shape after taking antibiotics for a few ear infections. This did seem to help some on the bloating after eating. That being said, it didn’t help with the protruding stomach. Maybe it is something they will have to live with but if there are certain stretches or a special type of Doctor we could visit, we would really appreciate any advice or direction. Thanks.
