held hostage by 11-year-old

Help! I feel like I'm being held hostage by my 11-year-old son.  This morning he said he had a sore throat and refused to go to school.  But he didn't have a fever, ate cookies (without permission) and screamed at me.  I ended up screaming back as I was late for work and frazzled.  There have been other times when he has refused to leave the house with me, and I've had to cancel my plans.  I take away privileges, but it just keeps happening.  What do I do when he refuses to leave?

Might there be a reason why your son doesnt want to go to school? like bullying for example or maybe something trivial?
