inattentive 6 year old

I have a 6 year old daughter. Her father and I are divorced and he has remarried. I have now just started dating another man and I have not always been the best for disipline. I have to work really hard to get her to listen to me and do what I expect of her. She tells me and my boyfriend that she hates us all the time. We have taken her on weekend getaways, mainly to get away from my 2 yr old son that takes alot of our attention away from her. She is pretty good for the first half of the weekend, but by the time we are on our way home she cops an attitude that is absolutely uncontrollable. We have put her into different activities to get her out of the house and with other kids. But I am having problems getting her to attatch to me when we are at home. What can I do to get her to listen and be more attentive at home?

Give her the positive attention she is seeking, you say you have a 2 year old and as you took her away to 'get away" from him I am assuming there could be some jealousy issues and she sees her brother get most of the attention at home, Understandable as he is only 2, instead of demanding she listen and be attentive, do things with her at home , and make sure they are fun things, board games are a lot of fun and the 2 year old is too young for them so it could be the 2 or 3 of you perhaps when the younger one is napping,When the boyfriend is around get some outside activities going maybe he will play ball with her so she gets his attention also. When she has an 'attitude: say nothing dont feed into it she has learned that she gets negative attention which is better than none so ignore her behavior,if she isnt getting any reaction maybe she will stop.
