I WANT TO ADOPT A 16 YEAR OLD

WHEN IS A CHILD OLD ENOUGHT TO DESIDE WHERE SHE WILL LIVE?   This mom came to me and asked me to keep her daughter, my huband and i wanted to adopt her,   her mother made her go back home.
the daughter wants us to adopt her she does not like her mother boyfriend who is on drugs.   She told me her mother and her boyfriend were both on drugs and told me her mother was abusive.  I love this girl and we do have a mnother and daughter relationship,  i love her like she was my own, her mom will not sign paper for me todopt her she told me she would have her locked up

Talk to a lawyer. I know some states say 12 others 13, while others say 16. It just depends on the laws. Either way, from what I remember from my law classes years ago, she'll have to appear in front of a Judge and let him/her know that she does indeed want to live with you and not her mother.
