Trouble with my 10yr old

I really need guidance to find out what I'm doing wrong.  My middle child is 10yrs old and is consistently misbehaving.  He likes to shock people and has a great sense of humour but refuses to take people in authority seriously.  His  teachers are forever calling me in as he has problems respecting teacher assistants.  He can be really silly in the playground which always gets him into trouble.

He has an older brother who was completely different at school but who of course is now 16 and I'm sure his cheeky mannerisms have rubbed off on his younger brother.

I dont know what to do and am so concerned about how he will behave in secondary school.  I have tried everything.praising, depriving even smacking please help!

You are correct it is probably learned behavior from his brother and possibly brother is still doing it at home. Have a chat with his older brother and ask if he can 'cool it"the problem may continue till you get a handle on that. Can the teachers tell him to stop the behavior as he does it there, perhaps they need to have a consequence when he does behave in a disruptive mannerSpanking wont help it is only re-enforcing hitting patterns. The sense of Humor is good ,focus on his positive side and praise him when he does something right.Work on the 16 year old,
