I cannot speak for all patients, but the ones I have known about have done well. They need to be screened periodically for heart rhythm problems that can be related to the aneurysm. You should just continue to work with your child's cardiologist with regular evaluations. Good luck.
Yes, we have seen children with congenital ventricular aneurysms at our institution.
Have you are any of you collegues ever seen a child with this?? I was just trying to get some info for the future!!
Thank you so much for answering!!
Congenital aneurysms of the ventricles are rare problems. Their cause is unclear. However, the indications for surgery depend upon the size of the aneurysm, the presence of clot in the aneurysm and overall heart chamber size and function. It sounds like your child is on appropriate medical therapy. Careful serial observation is likely all that is needed at this point. if there are changes, then your cardiologist can review those with you and discuss the timing of surgery, if indicated.
His Dr. had recommended a cardiac ath. He just had an MRI/MRA and the resukts were normal...now they are not sure whether to do the cath or not. I dont want my child having something invasive if it's not 100% necessary. Any thoughts??
Thank you so much!! I feel very postitive about my son's future and we are going to do everything to ensure has lives a very long healthy life!!! I have heard that some children have grown out of this and the aneurysm had regressed to the point where it becomes insignifigant....have you ever seen this??
What kind of treatment did they need? How did they do long term? My son"s dr. said that my son should be just fine, but I worry about this every day. Thank you so much for answering again!!
