2 weeks before period - alcohol - holiday

Hi all,
I should start by saying that I am a ridiculous worrier at times and have suffered from OCD and anxiety and previously been on medication for it so unfortunately I do fixate on things.
I am 28 years old and for about 6 months, my husband and I tried to conceive. We didn't use ovulation tests or anything and we probably didn't do the deed often enough throughout the month to give us maximum chance of getting pregnant but nothing happened anyway.  I decided that I would prefer us to use protection for a couple of months because we are going on a long summer holiday and I want to relax and enjoy myself and eat and drink what I want, without worrying that it will affect a possible baby.
However, with all my good intentions, we ended up having sex a couple of times this week without using protection.  This would have been about 10-12 days since the first day of my last period.  I intend not to have sex anymore this week as my husband is working night shifts so we probably won't be having sex during ovulation time, though I'm not really sure when I will ovulate.  I do have 27-29 day cycles at the moment.
So, my question now is... Do I go on holiday next week and avoid drinking alcohol on the off chance that our sex has lead to a pregnancy?  Or do I just carry on with everything in moderation until I can do a pregnancy test on my period due date?  I don't intend to get hammered or anything, I just want to have a cocktail or a beer by the pool and a couple of drinks in the evening to relax, however at the same time, I don't want to find out that I'm pregnant and then be totally freaked out that I have harmed the developing embryo by drinking.  What do you think?  What would a doctor's opinion be?

I definitely indulged in some moderate drinking and medicinal marijuana until the pregnancy test showed up positive at 4-5 weeks.  The zygote doesn't even have a blood supply yet so substances shouldn't be a big factor at that point.  If you have a history of miscarriages then I'd probably hold off but otherwise don't put your life on hold.  It could be a while until you conceive!

With my first i didnt know i was pregnant until i was 14 weeks and i was at a wedding three days before drinking a bunch of wine. I drank a lot, as i once used too. But i cut cold turkey when i found out i was pregnant and now im too tired to wver drink. And she is perfectly fine. I'm not saying be an alcoholic,  but moderation doesn't hurt. Look at us. Our parents weren't even told to quit drinking and we came out ok.

You will be fine :) as stated above there is nothing even there for 2 weeks. And as far as getting pregnant, it will happen when it is meant to be, I'm a firm believer of that :) sometimes not thinking about it or stressing what ifs etc actually help you get pregnant :) I got pregnant from the pull out method, we were not trying but I knew I would be happy if it was to happen, never thought it would though! Good luck and enjoy your vacation ;)

I drunk before I knew I was ppregnant everyday. And I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 5 weeks. my Dr told me not to worry because the first two weeks tthere's nothing there and the ffirst two months the embryo is feeding off your yolk sac , your placenta isn't there yet. So its not taking nutrients from what you intake just yet. I'm now due in 3 days with a healthy baby boy

1000 bottles of wine - hahaha! Thanks, that makes me feel much better! I think I'll take a couple of pregnancy tests along on the trip so I can test as early as possible and put my mind at ease at least.  I really don't think it'll happen as we really haven't tried that hard yet but you just never know...

Yes, I have seen that it obviously will take a bit more preparation and planning.  I think so far we have just missed the right day and perhaps aren't the most fertile we could be.  I have a very healthy diet, I exercise and I don't drink to excess anyway. I was just reeeeeally looking forward to a cocktail by the pool after a long old year at work! ;)

Lol alcohol isn't thar serious.
If you want to be pregnant you can drank for 10 months anyway while your pregnant.
But anyway if you want to drink than drink honey. Enjoy your summer.
But if your serious about having a baby. Once your holiday fun is over. You should buy Ovulation test and start taking folic acid and prenatal pills that will have you get pregnant.  Having a child is a process you have to prepare your body first for better chances or resorts.
But sometimes 1 drunk night can lead to pregnancy lol.

    Goodluck honey (:

I got pregnant in November but I had no idea until New Years Eve. I drank about 1000 bottles of wine and smoked a million cigarettes over the Christmas period. My baby is fine, thank goodness. If you don't know, just carry on as normal. X

Yes, of course I wouldn't drink anything at all if I knew I was pregnant. It's just that I won't know and I will be annoyed if I find out I'm not pregnant as has been the case on many other occasions and I have deprived myself of some alcohol during my holiday.

I drank after I was pregnant but before we found out, with my daughter and this pregnancy, and they're both healthy and thriving. Talked to a lot of other women that drank before the knew they were preggo too, up to like 2-4 weeks pregnant, so I think you'll be fine. The key is that when we start feeling pregnant and or when we find out we are, we need to start being super health conscious and start protecting that life. Too much worry is way worse than alcohol...
