My more than abnormal period really confused my everything

I'm 24 and I've had a 3 day only period since freshman year of highschool. This month however 3 turned into 6 and I was  confused the entire time. Normally the max is 4 days but day 4 it's finishing up. During this cycle I noticed day 5 I was still bleeding but it wasn't  normal to me. (Sorry for the details ) but probably in the afternoon of day 4 -6 I wasted so many pads because the blood would never touch the pad but when I wiped it was like a horror film lol. Today is the week after and I'm extremely bloated it kind of feels like I have cramps . My boyfriend and I are trying to get pregnant. He has had one miscarriage already from a previous relationship and he has had his daughter & her mother murdered in front of him. I want to give him this. How soon should I take a test my cycle ended last week and my cycle isn't due until the first of next month I don't want to take the test too early and get a false negative. Any advice would be good

I recommend taking a pregnancy test 5ish days before your missed period. As for your period lengthening, often the body experiences hormone changes as you get older. But if you feel concerned, I recommend seeing a GYN.
