Positive Pregnancy test after early miscarriage

Okay here is the history...
My first day of my real last period was 10/14 that resulted in a pregnancy that didn't take. I had an ultrasound on the 28th because I was cramping and had a brownish discharge... The ultrasound showed that my uturas (sp) was at a normal size and there were no signs of pregnancy... So from there I had to go have my blood drawn to prove that I was pregnant before... there was low level of Hgc (? is that right) in my blood... That was on the 28 and 30 of November.

Today I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive.... Could it still be showing positive from the miscarriage before... or could I really be pregnant all ready???? I think that with my nerves I also pee'd on the test too long.. I will take another one as soon as I need to pee pee again...

Thanks ladies!
Jenn

Hopefully someone here can help me with this.. On the 15th of October, I had a positive pregnancy blood test at the ER, though my hCG levels were low, around 700 and the doctor wanted me to come back two days later to find out if the numbers were depleting. I went back last night (the 17th) and the test was still positive but they told me that my levels had gone down to 180. There was an ultrasound performed and there were no signs of ectopic pregnancy, and i have a cyst on my left ovary. The doctor that saw me last night told me that there were no signs of a baby on the ultrasound, but I would only have been around 3-4 weeks in. He told me I was having a miscarriage, and to go to my doctor on the 25th to get more testing done to confirm. I have had slight cramping and no bleeding at all. Is there a chance that the ER was wrong? Or did I definitely have a m/c? This would be my second baby and I'm only 18 but it's devastating and I'm so scared.

Hi everyone

This is going to be a long msg but I am feeling overwhelmed with stress at the moment.

On July 14, I was 9 wks pregnant and was experiencing bleeding so I went to the hospital and was told I had an early pregancy loss (the embryo never develeopped and my body continued to think i was pregnant). I experienced bleeding for about 3 weeks. Since then I would experience a little bit of brown spotting after sex (sorry too much info). This stopped and about a week ago i felt this flickering feeling in my ovaries and i experience a bit of spotting during th afternoon. I took a pregnany test as i still havent had my period and the test came back positive, indicating that I had conceived 2-3 weeks ago. I went to the drs and she believes I am pregnant and that I would not be getting a positive pregnany test so long after. I went for blood work and am now waiting for the results but the worrying is brutal. To be honest I don"t think I am pregnant, i would not be so lucky and the only symptoms I have are frequent urination and tiredness. What do you think? please post your responses. Thank you

My husband and i lost our baby at 8 weeks and 5 days....and found out at our 3-month ultrasound.  I had no idea how tough this was (my heart goes out to everyone...having now been thru this).  It's been 3 weeks today.  Last Saturday we had sex for the first time.  Today, 6 days later i have brown discharge.  We only had sex once.  And i have no idea about my ncg levels.  It's so hard not to get my hopes up even though they said to wait one period until "trying" again.  What should i do?  Is it just left-over blood from the d&c?  Or is this my period already?

Since your miscarriage occurred in your second trimester, it is very possible that due to the higher hCG levels, you do in fact still have some left in your system.  The only way to know for sure if this is a new pregnancy is to contact your doctor and have them do at least two hCG tests and compare them to see if the hCG is doubling.  When a woman is pregnant, her hCG levels about double each day (i.e., 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256...) so you can see from this pattern that two hCG hormone level tests can tell if you have a new pregnancy.

Good luck to you!
