Sometimes you can, but the odds of it being correct are very low. You can ask, but don't get your hopes up if they say one or the other or if they can't tell you.
My doctor said if the ultrasound tech said a gender they would be 90% accurate. They are world renowned sonographers though. She said boy and it is indeed a boy. We had another ultrasound at 14 weeks and there was no question by then.
I didn't plan or buy anything until 20 weeks though, just to make sure!
I found out I was having a boy with my 4th pregnancy at 14 weeks and confirmed again at 21 weeks. But at 12 weeks both boys and girls have what looks like a "penis". I definitly wouldn't go shopping this early. It's fun to have a guess and be suprised again in a few weeks. Good luck!
Yes I found out we were having a boy at 12w and it was confirmed at 20w. Have a look at my journals I have loaded a study regarding this if the tech wont tell you ask them for a profile pic with the 'nub' (dont know the actual name) and compare it to the example pictures on the study. They are in my photos couldn't get them both on the journal entry. Best of luck :)
Well I guess we will just have to wait and see what they can do on Tuesday to maybe tell us :) I am a high risk pregnancy so I have been having ultrasounds every 1-2 weeks but have been released from my specialist in houston to my local ob so who knows how often they will want to do them though. But maybe if not this one maybe I can talk them into one at 14 weeks :)
