my friend knew someone who gave birth to two still borns(twins) with in a week of getting a tattoo. i have tattoo's and i plan on getting more but i would never risk my childs life. it's just not worth the risk. it's only a tattoo and you can always get one when your child is born.
Ok, this comes from the mouth of some artists in my area.. I have tattoo's and am planning on one with Tyler's initials.
They don't like doing tattoo's because of a) Risk of infection, and B) possible hep.. etc. transmission.
Also, some tattoo's can turn out funny because of the hormones in your skin now, which won't be there after the baby. meaning the inks can change color, fade.. etc.
BUT if it's a reputable guy/girl, and they use FRESH needles, parts, etc. and as long as you take care of your new Tat. properly, then there should be no problem getting a new tattoo.
for ANYONE if they don't care for they're tattoo the correct way it'll get infected.. pregnant women just have a little higher risk because of a lowered immune system.
I plan on waiting til after he's born to get my tattoo, I have enough problems with the ink coming out that I need each tattoo done at least 3X to show well.
Actually, one of my friends is a tattoo artist, and No you are not to get a tattoo or a piercing while you are pregnant. Because of the pain, you body releases endorphins which can cause contractions!! It can cause you to have a miscarriage early on or start premature labor!!! Wait it out!! Right now you are probably retaining fluids and have extra weight gain. You tattoo will most likely not look the same after pregnancy!
My husband is covered in tattoos, and I mean has over 200 of them. He goes to the same guy every 3 weeks to get work done. We were supposed to get tattos of each other's initials done on our ring fingers while on our honeymoon, and the guy that was supposed to do it refused to do a tattoo on me. I was 5 weeks pregnant. He told me there is too much risk of lead poisoning to the developing baby, ask the ink doesn't only enter your skin, but your blood stream as well. I asked the guy that usually does my husband's tattoos and he said the same thing.
Both said they will not perform a tattoo on a pregnant woman, and the guy who does my husband's tattoos won't do it on a breastfeeding mother either, for apparently the same reasons.
My husband and I will be waiting until our child is born (due in December) and weaned before getting each others initials on our fingers, and that's fine with us. The health and safety of our baby is more important than a tattoo showing our love for each other. Our baby shows our love well enough.
No. I had to go through all kinds of testing because of the tattoo's that I got years before I became pregnant. I think I would wait, the most important thing right now is the safety of your unborn baby.
its not the pain of the tattoo that id be concerned with...its the ink seeping into your skin and blood. most doctors would say no to be on the side of caution.
I had an appt scheduled for my tattoo before I found out I was pregnant. He wouldn't do it once I told him I was expecting. There can be trace amounts of lead in the ink it's not wise to do while pregnant.
but I am getting it done next month now. YAY!!
the person thats doing it is my cousin he has his license and tattoo parlor. i just talked to him and he wont be able to do it anyway because he's out of town and wont be back until next week but i do believe i can hold out 6 more months
I really dont think that they would do it if they knew you were pregnant. Do you plan on telling them that your expecting?
I would say NO, but im not a doctor. I have had a few befor and you should not go through that much pain while pregnant, its not good for the baby:) I am sure that you can wait another 7 months or so........
