1st Trimester with bleeding and cramping

I found out on Friday by a blood test that I am for sure pregnant! I took a home pregnancy test prior to getting the blood test and it also said I am! Well, Friday night at around 11:30pm I started to bleed and cramp! I went into the emergency room and they did a blood test and checked my cervix. My hcg level at that point was at a 10 which they said means I'm anywhere from 2-3 weeks pregnant.. btw that don't match up with the 1st day of my last period.. But, Then again.. I could have had other reasons for missing my period like stress and then just happen to get pregnant. Well, Friday the bleeding wasn't too heavy and it was redish brownish. Sunday when I woke up I noticed I started to bleed a little heavier (This time it's more like a normal period with the cramping except i'm not bleeding as heavy as I would if I was on my period) and the blood is now bright red. I went back in to the er around 3-4pm. They did another blood test and my hcg level only went from a 10 to a 13. Then again it hadn't been a full 48 hours. Anyways, They checked my cervix again and she did assure me the bleeding does not look like it's coming out of my cervix. They couldn't do an ultrasound though because my hcg level wasn't high enough. Well, I go back in tomorrow and they will do another blood test and my hcg level should be anywhere between 30-40. If it then they should be able to do an ultrasound.

Anyways, I was told from a few people that some woman can have there actual periods during there 1st trimester and still carry a normal pregnancy to term. Is this true? They didn't confirm a miscarriage on Sunday. Has anyone ever had there period (Or at least what seemed to be like a period with bleeding and cramping) while early on in pregnancy? I'm worried! This isn't my first pregnancy but my 1st one I never had anything like this happen to me!

I recently found out that I was pregnant last week about five days ago. It is my first pregnancy, I am 19 and married to a marine who will be getting deployed and this baby has just brightened up our lives so much already. I have no insurance yet because our marriage process hasnt finished fully going through the deers office so i havent gone to the drs yet. Just last night i started having some brownish redish dischsrge, a bit creamy, then it turned into a runny sticky bright red color, nd now this morning its full on blood. I am scared that for my first pregnancy I am having a miscarriage. ike I said I have no insurance so i havnet gone to the hospital or anything but reading these posts are keeping me hopeful that I may still have my baby. BTW this bleeding is accompanied with moderate cramps, just trying to stay positive :(

Try to not stress. I know it's easier said then done.. But, Stressing wont help with the situation. Anytime you feel like your getting to stressed out or something just sit back and take a deep breath! Thats what my doctor told me to do! Try to do something that relaxes you.. Like a nice warm bath, Read a book or anything that will relax your body! Also, Go see a doctor as soon as possible!

I wish you luck and will pray that you and the baby will be ok!

I got another blood test yesterday and my levels went from 34 (On Tuesday) to 107 (Yesterday). So the pregnancy is progressing! :D I still have no clue how far along I am though!

I only spotted pink around 8 weeks.
And haven't had anything but slimey white/clear discharge come outta me since.

Bright red blood is a sign of a problem.
Specially if there's clotting involved.
Cuz if there's clotting, that means you're losing actual chuncks of the liner in your uterus that your fertilized egg should be implanted into.

There are rare cases where women's hormones are out of whack, and they lose bits and peices of the lining, but not where the baby is inplanted so the pregnancy is fine.
But that usually only happens to women over 35.

But from the sounds of what you're describing, things don't sound too good.

I hope you get the answer you're looking for at your next doc's visit and I wish you the best of luck!!

I am so sorry you are having to go through this.  Don't stress but be prepared.  Same thing happened to me except my hcg level did not go up at all but went down.  Before I had got the results of the hcg levels the doctor kept telling me everything looked good and it probably was just break through bleeding.  When I got the levels back they had went down and I was having a miscarriage.  If yours went up at least a bit I would say that is a good sign.

Bleeding doesn't always mean a bad thing, I didn't even find out I was pregnant with my son until I was almost 12 weeks because I had my normal period every month and I didn't think I was actually pregnant, probably would've found out later than that had I not had a papsmear and the doc told me I was pregnant. Don't worry too much about the HCG levels either unless they're not doubling every 3 days. I do believe they double every 72 hours not 48. I had HCG problem with this pregnancy sorta.. they called and said my HCG was really low (only 31) then made me an appt to have it rechecked 5 days later, which I stressed myself through those 5 days, but they'd went up to 141. As long as the bleeding isn't bright red, and you're not passing clots I'm sure it's normal. Could've just ovulated late and implantation bleeding :)

I bled from weeks 5-10 during my pregnancy due to something called a subchorionic hematoma which is basically a cut behind the sac where it is attached to the wall. It would come and go and was if possible worse than a period and bright red. My daughter is now 3 months old.

Itis normal to have bleeding during pregnancy. I am 9 weeks 4 days and have been bleeding on and off throughout. Your Hcg levels are going to be the first real indicator. As Brown eyed Girl said they should almost double every 48-72 hrs to be a viable pregnancy .Good luck to you.

Thank you! The cramping and bleeding is basically like I'm on my period but there is evidence that there is a pregnancy. I guess I should just wait until tomorrow because tomorrow when I go in will be a little more then 48 hours! I'm just really worried!

your HCG levels should double or increase by 60% or more every 48-72 hours and if not they don't consider it a viable pregnancy.....but then again cramping and spotting is normal durning early pregnancy but the spotting is usually brown not bright red......and the cramping shouldn't be extrememly painful....just like mild period cramping....good luck and I hope it's good news for you.
