20 wk whth no amnotic fluid

my sister is 20 wk and just had her 20 wk scan, doc told her there is only 1cm of amnotic fluid. they have told her he is growing fine at the min  with a strong hart beat but with no fluid hes lung will no grow properly, they are giving her a scan in a wk they say if the fluid has no come back see will have to think about having the baby hart stop and she would have to deliver him or she can take the risk and carry on with the pregnecey. this wk is going so slow waiting for that next scan, will the baby have a chance to surviv if she carrys on? if anyone can anwer plz do.

Have they told her why they think her fluid levels are low?

I have never experienced this personally, but when I was pg with DS I did 6 months of bedrest and found a support group for bedrest mommas. One of the other women in the group had her water break right around 20 some weeks. She had VERY low fluid from there on... and was even told that there was a VERY slim chance that her baby would survive. She was put on strict bedrest and had to drink LOTS of fluid. They gave her steriod shots at around 24 weeks to try to help the baby's lungs develop. If I remember correctly I think she delivered right around 32 weeks. Her baby had to do some NICU time, and it was rocky at first. But after a month or so he came home on oxygen and is doing well now (he is almost 2!).
I can't really give you odds, I really don't know a whole lot about this. I just wanted to share that success story with you. It never hurts to get a second opinion from another Dr. either if she doesn't feel comfortable with the information that she is getting.
Best of Luck to her and keep us updated!
