37 week checkup

Ok so at my appointment last week my midwife told me that if my blood pressure is high at my 37 week appt then they would have to keep me there because it could cause problems for the baby. I guess i shouldve asked her for more indepth specifications cause now im sitting here wondering...keep me for what?? lol. Does anyone know? Everytime i go in for an appt they have to take my blood pressure more than once just to get it right under normal.
Does she mean they will admit me and monitor the baby until my blood pressure goes down??
Also does anyone know what goes on at the 37 week check up??

Thanks ladies (:
I ended up having high blood pressure like i assumed. They kept me in L&D for over 4 hours...tested my urine, drew some blood and checked for swelling. I have alot of swelling in my legs and hands. They gave me a container that i have to pee in for 24 hours lol...so gross! I have to drop it off at the lab tomorrow and get retested again and if my blood pressure still high or my urine has protein in it...or no protein, i forgot which one lol...then they are going to have to induce me. So i could possibly have a baby by the end of this week, but i am hoping everything goes good and he stays in there for a couple more weeks!

High blood pressure is very dangerous for both you and your baby. it can cause major complications if not picked up in time.
So please, if you can between now and your 37week check up, go through to a pharmacy and see if they can check it for you, so that if it does go up between now and your appointment, you can go straight in and catch anything early.

Most likely if your blood pressure is elevated theyw ill admit you and monitor the baby.  If the baby seems to be in distress or your blood pressure stays too elevated they may induce you early.

Typically a 37 week check up (depending on the doc) may include the usual vital signs, weight check, urine specimine.  May or may not include having your hemoglobin checked, Some doctors will automatically want to perform a cervical exam for changes others will if you request it, they will check the babies heart beat, measure your fundal height and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
