Some babies are ready to feed as soon as they come out during skin to skin so before they're even cleaned because you shouldn't have baby cleaned before skin to skin.
Thank u guys!:) I plan on breastfeeding for atleast 3-6 months, or until she gets teeth, then im sticking to pumping until she is a year old, then switching her to milk. I hope I can produce enough for my baby because id love to be able to give my baby what she needs and plus its free!
I tried breastfeeding and he wouldn't want to eat. He probably stuck like 10 min in my boobie and after just slept they say its okay if the baby dont want to eat the first 8 hrs I kept trying every 2 hours to make sure . but I'm guessing every baby is different some may want to eat others probably won't. :)til this day I'm still bf my 14 month old good luck
Some places don't even clean the baby before handing them over to you for bonding. The smell in the juices helps your mind and body produce not only breast milk, but more oxytocin to get over the Herculean task you just completed and other super mommy hormones. Also, newborns have to eat every two hours for I believe the first two weeks after birth. You will probably have to get a breast pump so whoever watches baby while you're at school can feed them.
I do think you have to pump often. And you will want to as you'll be uncomfortable when the milk is there. Get some breast pads to slip in your bra in case you leak.
good luck
I fed my daughter right away after they gave her a quick check up and cleaned her up
Thanks for all the answers! I do plan on pumping while I'm in school since obviously I won't be around my baby while I'm in class. And I'm only taking a week off when I have her . Don't u have to feed/ pump every two hrs so ur milk production stays high enough ?
For my pregnancies, I had the baby and needed a second to get it together after. ha. I did hold the baby but they wheeled me out of delivery to my room and then cleaned up the baby and I fed them for the first time there. That seemed like standard protocol for my hospital. So, he was fed within half an hour after birth.
After that initial feeding, then the baby is usually fed like every two hours in the beginning. I looked for slightly longer stretches at night. As they get a little bigger, their stomachs hold more and they can go a bit longer. My strategy was to feed feed feed during daylight so that when nighttime hit, I could get that bit longer of a stretch.
All should prepare themselves for frequent need to eat initially, really --- it is every couple of hours in the beginning. Then you can put them on a schedule but it is still like every 3 or 4 hours for a good while. Have fun . . . I loved breast feeding!!
They usually eat pretty soon. But babies eat whenever they want. You can try a schedule, but that might not work. I'm on #3 and sometimes they eat on schedule and then growth spurts they want alot more
I fed mine after they took him to check he was fine and weigh him and all that other stuff they do and then they brought him back for me to feed him like an hour or so later.
Usually they will want to eat right away, but sometimes if you have an epidural it can make them sleepy so they are not interested at first.
Oh ok. Bc I want to have my baby on a feeding schedule so I can plan to breastfeed around my classes. So it would be nice to feed at a certain time instead of just randomly
