After birth pains....

With my first son I never experienced the pains of my uterus contracting back, but this time around, it is awful!! My son is 2 days old and of course when he nurses, it's 10x worse, but it also does it randomly throughout the day. How long is it suppose to last? I was told it was okay to take motrin, but I am not sure how well it's working, although it does help me to sleep. This is new to me, and was just wondering how long it should last for? Today they don't seem as bad as yesterday. Yesterday they felt like really strong contractions and I was just about crying everytime it happened...today they are mild.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad I am not alone. It's pretty painful, but seems to be getting better now. whew. It was awful at times. Hopefully it will go away soon. I'm not much a medicine taker, but wow I needed something. Hopefully it won't go on any longer than a week.

It was worse after I had my second daughter, too. In fact, don't remember it with my first at all. So you're not alone! I didn't end up taking anything, though, but Motrin should work.

Mine lasted for about a week this time around. They told me to take Motrin, but it didnt seem to help unless I took a double dose of the 600 mg that they gave me at the hospital:( Hope you feel better soon!

I had them only when I breastfed for the first week. So I should be stopping sometime soon!

I had the same thing for about 3-4 days after I had Dameon, I was having small contractions, nothing intense, just small ones. You should definitely ask your doctor about this though!
